According to E! there was “widespread concern” in the True Blood fan community that werewolf Alcide Herveaux from the third Sookie Stackhouse book would not be a part of season three.

Not surprisingly, E! doesn’t mention fueling these fires by getting histrionic about the part not yet being cast for the role, and coming to the addle-brained conclusion that Alcide (pronounced Al-see) would not be in True Blood, Season 3.

When asked about this at the True Blood writers’ event at Paley Center Saturday, Alan Ball was quick to correct the erroneous assumption that Alcide Herveaux would not be in Season 3 True Blood.

Says A-Ball, “Alcide Herveaux is going to be on TV. We haven’t cast him yet, but I believe he appears first in the third episode. Alcide is already in love with someone, a very bad woman named Debbie Pelt. But will he fall in love with some else? It’s too soon to say.” (This is where, if you really need to know you could read book three to see why Alan Ball would even speak to this possibility.)

Further spoilery nuggets were forthcoming from Mr. Ball including:

  • Vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) will be fully utilized on the series…despite his fate in book 3 (and beyond).  Quoth Alan Ball, “Stephen Moyer will not be marginalized…Bill and Sookie might go through some rough patches that last maybe a little longer than Team Bill fans might like. But Bill and Sookie have a connection that will never die.” (They also probably won’t marry this season.)
  • You will be seeing “much more” of Alexander Skarsgård in his natural state

Alexander Skarsgård (Eric) & Anna Paquin ( Sookie)

Alexander Skarsgård (Eric) & Anna Paquin ( Sookie)

Skarsgård has gone from season one when, as A-Ball phrases it, “(Alexander) was a prisoner of that wig,”  to Season 2, garnering a huge fan base–as well as gaining much media attention to Season 3 where he will have a leading role on the show, starting S3xE1 in the nude, or as Ball said, “Alex has indicated a willingness to go there, and I believe he appears without most of his clothes in the very first episode [of season three].”

  • Season three will be about “identity”

Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) investigates his biological parents and his shapeshifter heritage.

Sookie (Anna Paquin) “gets closer to the answer” about her magical sparkly hands that repelled the “immortal” Maryann as well as helped save Sam’s life.

Finally, producer Raelle Tucker stated, “Jessica’s (Deborah Ann Woll)  going through an identity crisis, and needing to suck blood to survive doesn’t make [being a teenager] any easier. But she’s really finding who she is…but when you have fangs, there are some missteps along the way that can be quite dangerous.”
