True Blood Continues Season 3 Casting (12.15): Meet “Alcide” (and others!)

Cast on True Blood (12.15) Cooper Huckabee - Sam's (Sam Trammell) dad, 'Joe Lee Mickens'

This follows the Monday castings of J. Smith-Cameron as Sam’s estranged mother Melinda Mickens and of Alfre Woodard as Lafayette’s (Nelsan Ellis) mom.

Manganiello also had a memorable arc on “One Tree Hill” playing a bartender dating Brooke (Sophia Bush).
His acting credits also include a recurring role on “ER” and a part in “Spider-Man 3.”

Major new cast additions to “True Blood” for season three include Denis O’Hare, Marshall Allman, Theo Alexander and Grant Bowler.
There has been a slew of bit part casting on the show over the past week, including actors Shannon Wells, C.C. Sheffield (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) and Natasha Alam.’

I am completely unfamiliar with Joe Manganiello* but I have read of Alcide Herveaux and Manganiello looks perfect for the part–as in to a “t” perfect.

I wonder though if there is any more room for hunky not-completely-human males on True Blood?
Joe Manganiello is not at all like Stephen Moyer (Vampire Bill) and all he shares with Alexander Skarsgård (Viking vampire Eric Northman) is a tall, hot body. This is simply based on looks.* I’m assuming like 95% of all the parts cast in True Blood that he’ll be great.
