The actor’s unaffected manner—all the more striking given his angular movie-idol looks—put the set in a state of mild bewilderment. This is, after all, the home of high-maintenance celebrity needs. So when someone as easygoing and ego-free as Skarsgård comes along, we almost don’t know what to do with him.

And yet there’s no arguing Skarsgård is a born star. The acting bug is hereditary. He’s the son of Swedish screen veteran Stellan Skarsgård. Like his father, Skarsgård the younger got his start as a child actor in Sweden. For American fans, he first emerged from the dust and cynicism of HBO’s Generation Kill by commanding scenes as easily as his character, Sgt. Brad “Iceman” Colbert, ordered around his marines.

But it’s True Blood’s wickedly sexy vampire sheriff Eric Northman that made him a bona fide sex symbol. Now, at 33, Skarsgård is in such high demand—both here and in Sweden—he shot two films simultaneously during his last hiatus. And his chiseled, athletic frame and riveting pale blue eyes have sent fans into such a worshipful tizzy they’ve given themselves a name: Skarsgårdians.

Hans Tester cast in True Blood Season 3 as 'Ulrick' (New York Times)

Actor Hans Tester has been selected to play the role of Eric Northman’s (Alexander Skarsgård) father in Season 3 of True Blood. Ulfrick, described as “a battle-scarred warrior” in his 40′s or 50′s and a “Swedish Viking King,” will be seen in flashbacks to 900 AD. Though Ulfrick loves Erik he disapproves of Erik’s behaviour and desires Erik to “behave in a more responsible manner as befitting royalty.”

Tester will make his True Blood debut in Season 3 Episode 5, entitled “Trouble.” Other supporting cast members in the episode include:

Marshall Allman as Tommy, Grainger Hines as Colonel John Flood, Joe Manganiello as Alcide Herveaux, Lindsay Pulsipher as Crystal Norris, Melissa Rauch as Summer, Don Swayze as Gus and Tanya Wright as Kenya.

Tester has a varied back ground in a show biz career going back to the early 1990′s. He’s been in film (The Informant) Television (Better Off Ted, Nip/Tuck) as well as having done voice overs and worked as a crew person. And yes, in case you are wondering it’s said he speaks Swedish.
